Feb. 25th SIG Meeting Summary
Saturday, February 28th, 2009- Goals for 2009: New Blood & Promoting Writers
- A request was made to compile information on internships – how to look for them, the benefits of having a writing intern, etc.. Once gathered, resources for companies and resources for writers can be posted to the site. (Including FAQs).
- An official initiative to create an internship program for the Writing SIG will be added to the Wiki by Rob.
- Find & publish to the website: the Austin GDC 2006 list of common statements and arguments for & against the need for writer as well as other relevant materials.
- Write Club at GDC 2009
- ChrisK reserved a room at John’s Grill for Thursday the 26th from 6pm to 9pm
- Volunteer Coordination for GDC 2009
- Tracy is compiling a list of who volunteered for what (and will hunt down new volunteers).
- Corvus is: handling data collection & presentation; working on a Google calendar of all member led sessions, sessions members are a part of, various parties, Write Club, etc.; creating a “Who’s Going” + contact info list; and making a list of suggested bars/hotels/restaurants/etc.
- Quarterly
- Extra content is available, which will be pitched to Gamasutra. It is on track to print on time.
- FAQs for the Wiki
- Dan was awarded a metaphorical gold star…because he rocks! (One FAQ down!)
- Dan is creating a FAQ on manual writing, and Cat is creating one on reviews/critiques.
- Website Developments & the Wiki
- We’re currently waiting for the web tech to get into place before moving forward.
- Samples of manuals, reviews and critiques could be added to the script library, potentially.
- A number of documents i.e. common statements and arguments against the need for writers, have gone missing.
- Other Business
- Our new book is officially launching at the GDC! Press releases will be written by Cat.
- Said book should be promoted on various blogs and social networks, as well as promoted to educators.
